Via Gretchen Carlson’s show today, House Oversight Committee Chair Darrell Issa claims he has talked to contractors who say that a month out, they were told to basically bury the information people wanted most, namely, what do these policies offer and what is the price. As we all know by now, you first have to sign up AND apply before even seeing the policies and the prices at healthcare.gov. The only plausible explanation for this of course would be to try and get people to commit to buying a product BEFORE they know what it is or what it costs. Yep, that’s our government at work…trying to make things easier, right? Whether or not this political tinkering is part of what is causing the site to malfunction is yet to be seen, but I think we can all agree this sort of politically motivated government coercion is pretty distasteful. Are these really the type of folks you want as the final arbiters of everything having to do with your personal health and well-being? Not me.
As crooked as liberals try and paint all big companies and corporations, I can go online RIGHT NOW and get a car insurance or health insurance quote online with ease. But THIS is the mentality you get when government controls everything. This is what you get. With them, they need only fool people long enough until a particular point of legislation is beyond a point of no return. THEN they can be honest. If you don’t like what they offer, tough nuts. It’s the law, it’s not a system of voluntary commerce and civil cooperation. If you don’t like it, there is very little recourse that can be had in such bureaucracies. That certainly doesn’t sound like the type of good ol’ fashioned choice and competition we were all sold on…or I should say SOME of us were sold on, now does it? Just another example of the means apparently justifying the end. Pretty sick.
